16+ Part-time Performer & Teacher Training Programme

OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE

The aim of the HJA-PTTP course is to develop students to fulfil their own individual potential, to train them at the highest level for a professional career in the entertainment industry and for them to achieve ISTD status as a qualified teacher for those wishing to teach either now or in the future.

In our busy lives it is not always possible to accommodate attending a full time Performing Arts College or to even afford the costs involved – that is why the PTTP course has been developed.  The HJA-PTTP is a part time evening course over three evenings per week (approximately thirteen hours per week).  It will allow students to continue with studies for A-Levels or other academic qualifications during the day or to maintain their work status for those students who are already in full time employment or who have other daytime commitments that have so far precluded them from attending a full time day college.

Students will be taught all aspects of theatre arts - Ballet, Tap and Modern, together with Commercial Jazz, Singing, Drama and Musical Theatre. Students will work through all ISTD units for their ISTD FDI (Foundation in Dance Instruction) in which they will study both Modern and Tap - this being the first teaching qualification.  Once students have completed their FDI qualification, they will move on to study for the ISTD CDE (Certificate in Dance Education) which completes their training in the discipline that they have studied i.e. Modern or Tap or both and they will then be fully qualified to teach that subject.  On completion of both the FDI and CDE Exams, students will be fully qualified Dance Teachers enabling them to train and enter pupils for exams in their given subject.

Students on this course will be taught by highly qualified professionals in every discipline.

DANCE

Ballet, Tap, Modern – students will work to cover all units for the ISTD FDI in both Modern and Tap, together with both ISTD and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) Ballet to Advanced Level.  Students will work on Advanced Grades to develop technique, strength and performance.
