HJA - the Herbert Justice Academy of Theatre Arts opened the doors on 23rd July 1997 with just seven pupils in a small church hall. Since that day the Academy has grown and developed into one of the most popular provincial Theatre Schools in the South East teaching every aspect of Dance, Drama, Singing and Theatre Arts. Our reputation of excellence, development, care and enjoyment goes before us. There are currently over a hundred different classes taught each week by a professional team of highly qualified teachers and staff lead by the Principal Alan Justice who works tirelessly to bring Theatre Arts to everyone.
All HJA students have the opportunity to perform on stage and have appeared both locally and in the West End in several fantastic performances. We are proud that many students have also worked professionally within the entertainment industry in Theatre, Television, Film and Modelling through the Academy Agency.
HJA is also home to the 'JUST ART' Art Centre which teaches classes in painting, drawing, sculpture and craft-making for all ages.
The most recent HJA Dance project is the creation of 'Dance Alive' - HJA's first professional Dance Group. This amazing troupe of HJA Dance Students have already had professional engagements and were the headline act at the first 'Bromley Arts Festival' on the main stage.
The Future of HJA is onwards and upwards - HJA will be opening their newly refurbished Building 'HJA Stage9' which will be home to our very own 250 seater Theatre, Performing Arts School and College, Art Centre, Gallery, Coffee Shop and Restaurant that will offer opportunities and entertainment for everyone in the community and beyond.
